Chapter 12 For a Better Tomorrow
Chapter 12 For a Better Tomorrow
Clara stood outside the old weapons testing site, looking at the world-ripping monsters running rampant under her feet with an expressionless face. She had seen this scene for a long time. Thanks to the Joker and the world energy in him, more than half of the monsters that came in because the patches were not fully installed were consumed.
She stood barefoot on the cold steel floor, her legs slightly red from the cold wind.
"Clara." Swarovski walked out slowly and came to her side. His mechanical body brought a little warmth, but his words were still cold.
"According to calculations, there is an 84% chance that the individual named Joker will find the secret passage leading to the upper area."
"I understand, Mr. Swarovski." The girl in red nodded, and her expression finally changed. She looked at the huge battlefield below with sadness but determination.
"Then let's get started. As long as we drive away these monsters, the people in the lower areas will not be troubled by monsters, and Rivet Town can be reopened. In this way, the wanderers will have a place to live."
"Received, Clara." Swarlow's mechanical head flashed red: "The order has been issued, the mechanical formation begins to advance."
As Swarovski's voice fell, the army of robots that had gathered to surround the test site gradually began to advance. Traffic lights, grizzly bears and wolf-tooth robots confronted the remaining world-ripping creatures. For a moment, the entire test site became a huge Shura field.
The traffic lights acted as a distraction, and the grizzly bear relied on its thick body to withstand the damage, while the aggressive wolf seized the opportunity to attack.
The rift monsters on the other side were not to be outdone. Although they were unconscious, they showed no fear at all. They even mimicked themselves into robot-like monsters.
Clara couldn't bear to see her robot companion, who had been with her day and night, now with his limbs broken off. However, as long as the core of the robot existed, it could still be repaired. As long as the monsters in the rift were not eliminated, the lower area would never be at peace.
"Clara, I have collected and backed up all the robot data. Don't worry, we will see you again eventually." Swarovski comforted Clara.
"I understand, Mr. Swarovski. I just hope that our efforts will not be in vain and that Beloberg can survive this snowstorm safely." The girl in red prayed and listened quietly to the robot's roar.
In the consciousness space, the system: "Host, the clown has moved."
Player: "Great, let's make our next move."
If an alien patch wants to integrate into the world, the most important thing is to integrate into the history of this world.
The original story of Beloberg was closer to another superpower, but if one wants to gain a foothold in this world, one must try to get as close to the world's protagonist as possible. Players and the system tinkered with the world line based on the settings, and thus created the current Beloberg.
But the most important thing about a good patch is that it should be integrated into the original world, so the task of playing nice with the American political arena was given to Bronya, and Jeppard brought in the main character Bruce Wayne, and the only variable was the sudden joining of the Joker.
Players don't like the Joker, not only because he ruined his own plan and brought challenges to Beloberg, who had been peacefully passing through the fusion period, but also because of his bad attitude of treating countless lives as a joke and his chaotic and crazy value system.
Belloberg is not Gotham, and it does not need a madman to represent its dark side. It comes from the sunny, healthy, positive and cheerful MiOyou, who is destined to save this broken world from disaster.
A city with hope as its theme is naturally incompatible with Gotham, a city that is officially labeled as falling. But since the core characters of Gotham have been involved, players must show them what love and hope are.
Batman was still pouring water while the mechanical army cleaned up the testing grounds.
"Thank you, Wayne." A miner hurriedly drank a sip of hot water and threw himself into the intense construction work with full enthusiasm.
He didn't even complain about the hardship and tiredness.
There are many workers like this on this construction site. Although they are burdened with heavy work and the construction of the Pillars of Creation seems to be a long way off, there is hope on each of their faces.
Bruce Wayne kept adding hot water to the empty cup and tried to talk to the workers. In addition to the miners, there were also wanderers who gathered in the mechanical tribe all day long to steal and rob, who built this giant.
"Sir, are you really here voluntarily?" Bruce asked. After all, in the simple American value system (I am the best in the world and the world policeman), any construction project initiated by a militarized government like this will most likely involve forcing the people and wasting money and labor.
"Ah? There are actually people who would refuse such a thing?" The wanderer's face was filled with deep confusion, as if he had heard that someone could refuse to join Clara's fan club.
"The Silver Mane Iron Guards have already told us that as long as we work hard and rest on time, we can accumulate work points. These work points can not only be exchanged for supplies at the exchange office over there, but we can also get priority in getting a house!"
When the wanderer said this, hope shone in his eyes, anticipating the better life that would surely come:
"Although the Silver Mane Iron Guards are not trustworthy, Dihuo has also made a promise. If they dare not fulfill their promise... hey, we workers are not easy to bully."
It seems that Bronya's government is really trying its best to pull in the people of the lower class, just like she asked him to invest in the lower class. Bruce Wayne is very confused, does such a united city really exist? Shouldn't the normal process be full of oppression and resistance until a hero appears?
After many investigations, visits and conversations, Bruce had to admit that there was no oppression as he imagined, and everyone acted voluntarily and actively after knowing what work they were supposed to do.
Everyone has clear logic and complete speech, and there is no shocking brainwashing technique.
One question has been solved, but there is still one remaining question: with such a huge project, does Belloberg really have the ambition to retaliate against the United States and repay the federal government for its indifference to them over the years?
Looking at the people who were working hard to build with such happiness on their faces, Bruce Wayne felt a stomachache just imagining that they were so sunny and cheerful in order to take revenge on the United States.
Oleg seemed to see Bruce's worry. After finishing his work, he sat next to Bruce Wayne with a tub of hot water.
"What are you thinking about, such as whether we will retaliate against the United States?" he asked in a kind tone.
"I... I do have this idea. This robot poses too great a threat to human cities and can easily be used by some super villains." Bruce considered his tone and lines.
Oleg smiled and took a sip of water. "Boy, you know that the area between the upper and lower levels was once blocked, right? That was the order of the previous great guardian. In order to resist the threat from the wind and snow, the Silver Mane Iron Guards were forced to withdraw from the lower area."
"I do know that, but isn't there always underground fire to maintain order?"
Oleg shook his head. "After the Silver Mane Guards withdrew, the lower levels were left to fend for themselves. People could only survive by excavating ore and exchanging it for supplies, which caused a lot of chaos."
"It wasn't until later that the workers who couldn't stand it built the underground fire spontaneously, and the situation improved. Then the little girl named Bronya inherited the position of the Great Guardian, and the blockade was lifted."
"Won't anyone hold a grudge?" Bruce demanded.
Oleg felt a little lonely for a moment: "Of course there are, even more radical."
"But Bronya and I both know that the damage is irreversible. The blockade by the previous Great Guardian brought great suffering to the lower districts, and many of our compatriots died as a result."
"But those who put forward radical ideas are not seeking revenge for their fellow countrymen who died tragically. They just want to use this to fulfill their own ugly wishes, and they are willing to gamble with the future of Beloberg."
Oleg sighed quietly, "My friend from the outside world, I say this only to tell you that although the pain caused by betrayal is unforgettable, revenge can only bring more disastrous consequences."
"If the Underworld Fire had ignored all the consequences and insisted on venting its resentment in the Lower Zone, blinding itself to realize its filthy evil thoughts, then Beloberg would have been a land of war. How could it have been like this?"
He drank the hot water in his hand one sip at a time, very preciously. "Regarding the abandonment of the United States Federation, I believe that the little girl feels the same as I do. Although there is pain, the most important thing is always the happiness of the people. The people of Beloberg did not live to this day for revenge."
"Everything is for a better tomorrow." Oleg patted Bruce on the shoulder and put the kettle back.
Bruce watched silently as the Earth Fire leader finished speaking, picked up his tools and rejoined the construction. He finally reconciled with his persecution complex. As Oleg said, no matter who you are, you are fighting for a better future.
The Yalilo people have their own pride, and they will return to this world with dignity.
After dispelling the unnecessary doubts in his heart, Batman felt a lot more relaxed, but the missing Joker was still a thorn in his heart, and he could not allow this madman to destroy Beloberg's hard-earned hope.
The clown is crawling.
Perhaps it was a small oversight by God, he did not die in the dark underground testing ground, but found a one in a million hope of survival in the Jedi. He discovered the passage in front of the Beloberg closed testing ground used to transport weapons upwards.
The passage used to transport weapons was extremely difficult to open after it was closed, but I don’t know if some mechanism was accidentally touched during the fight, or if the appearance of those monsters affected the real world, and a tiny crack appeared in the passage.
Player: Yes, that’s right, I arranged it. If I said there would be a passage here, it would appear.
The higher they climbed, the lower the temperature dropped. Years of cold wind blew the biting ice and snow into this dilapidated passage, and the clown had to dig through the steel-hard ice with his bare hands.
The players in the consciousness space were amazed: "It's amazing that he can still be so energetic."
"System, next step."
