Chapter 12

Since the doll was given to me, Han Yebin and I have not met again. He was probably too busy preparing for the Mathematical Olympiad and I could not spare any time. I logged into the game several times but never saw him online. The disappearance of the person concerned temporarily silenced the "Love of One Tree" rumored on the Internet.
On my side, the class video finally passed An Mujin’s final review. She seemed very satisfied with the video. She praised me and gave me a new task.
“Planning interactive sessions between parents and students?”
"Yes." An Mujin nodded. "In order to liven up the atmosphere on the day of the exhibition, I have planned a lot of activities, but I don't have enough manpower, so I need your help." She pushed the plan in front of me and looked at me sincerely with her autumn water eyes. "Ling Jiantong, can you take over the planning of this event?"
"Uh..." I scratched my head, feeling a little embarrassed, "But I have no experience in planning this kind of event before."
"Oh, you don't have to worry about that. I have already made the specific plan. I just lack an executor." An Mujin smiled and opened the plan for me. "All you have to do is to set up the venue, host the event on the day, and uh... also contact the personnel in the early stage."
"Personnel contact?"
"Just contact the students' parents and inform them to come to the school to visit on the day of the exhibition. Of course, you don't need to contact everyone. After all, too many people will affect the quality of the event. You just need to select some suitable candidates." An Mujin paused, "The school means that it would be best to invite some outstanding students and their parents to participate."
"Is that so..." I frowned slightly. To be honest, I don't really like this kind of discrimination, but since An Mujin asked for it, I have nothing to refute.
"Okay, I understand." I put away the plan and said, "Leave it to me. I will do my best."
An Mujin's eyebrows curved, and the moment she smiled, it almost eclipsed the sunlight. She took out a piece of paper from the folder next to her and handed it to me: "This is the contact information of some students' parents. You should be able to use it."
I didn't expect her to be so well prepared. I was a little surprised. After all, I had been troubled by the "campus beauties" before. I instinctively felt that An Mujin's sudden enthusiasm was a little strange, but I couldn't tell what was wrong. I shook my head secretly, then took the paper and looked down. The first name written in black and white on the list was -
"Han Yebin?" I was surprised.
"Yes." An Mujin nodded. "The main purpose of planning this event is to enhance the relationship between parents and students, especially for those parents who are too busy with work to communicate well with their children. Participating in this kind of event is more conducive to easing the relationship between them and their children." She paused slightly, then softened her voice, and a layer of worry covered her brows. "I heard that Han Yebin doesn't have . I hope to invite his parents this time. It will also be a good thing for him."
I immediately thought of the amazing "instant noodle army" at Han Yebin's house, and nodded in agreement: "Well, I understand!"
After accepting the task, I immediately threw myself into the busy preparations for the event. I contacted the participants, made the event props, and arranged the venue. I was so busy that I finally completed the task within the deadline. Then, the class presentation day officially arrived.
After all, it was my first time to participate in a large-scale event in its entirety. I even couldn’t sleep the night before. I got up very early the next day and went to school in high spirits, carrying my schoolbag.
As soon as I stepped into the school gate, I saw the familiar figure walking in front of me.
"Han Yebin!"
The boy with the backpack on his shoulder stopped immediately and turned around. The bright morning light illuminated his face, making his dark pupils even brighter, as if the sunlight was crushed and sprinkled in his eyes.
"Hi!" Han Yebin raised his eyebrows, "It's been a long time since we last met."
Strictly speaking, we hadn't met for a week, but for some reason, I always felt like I hadn't seen him for a long time, so much so that when I saw him in person, I felt an indescribable joy in my heart.
"I heard from my brother that you have been training very hard recently." I ran to Han Yebin in three steps and walked side by side with him.
"It's okay." The boy shrugged, glanced at me unintentionally, and then his eyes fixed on my schoolbag.
"Haha." His voice was full of laughter. "You hung it here?"
The white ball was hanging loosely on my schoolbag, staring with its big round eyes as if it was sizing up the boy who was staring at it.
"Hmm..." Han Yebin stretched out his hand and pinched Bai Tuanzi's face, and nodded, "It suits you very well."
"Hehe!" I smiled narcissistically on purpose, "Are you saying that we are both cute?"
"I mean you all look so stupid." Han Yebin poked the white ball with his hand and said with a smile, "Look, you all have silly faces and stupid eyes. You look so easy to fool."
Suddenly, melodious music came from the campus radio. I was startled and knew that it was a welcome song and also a sign that the activity room was open. We, the event organizers, had to gather quickly.
"I'm going to the activity room. I'll go first." I said hurriedly, but Han Yebin was surprised.
"What's wrong? Shouldn't you just be making the class video? Why are you participating in the event?"
"It's just a small interactive activity planned on the spur of the moment." I took a few quick steps, then suddenly thought of something and turned back.
"At 10 o'clock, remember to come to Activity Room 403 to find me. You must come!"
Han Yebin was confused: "Ah? Why?"
"Hey!" I curled up the corners of my mouth and showed a big smile, "Secret."
The school exhibition day officially opened at 9 o'clock, and a large number of off-campus visitors immediately poured into the campus. Students also broke down the barriers between classes and visited each other everywhere. The whole college was in a state of excitement. Now the parents are still visiting the college, and other executives have gone out to watch the fun. I am a little bored in the activity room alone.
"Oh, it's so boring." As if the voice heard my thoughts, it suddenly came out.
"Well, a little bit, but it will be lively soon." I responded subconsciously, and then I realized something was wrong. I turned around and saw Han Yebin leaning against the door with his arms folded, smiling and waving at me.
"It's you!" I was pleasantly surprised. "You came early?"
"I'm free anyway, I don't want to be like that group of people and entertain visitors." Han Yebin said as he walked in, grabbed a chair and sat in front of me, while looking at the layout of the activity room. I noticed that when he saw the red banner on the wall that said "Welcome Parents", his brows slightly frowned.
“Is this activity you planned an interaction between students and parents?”
"Yes, that's right." I nodded. "We hold this event to strengthen the communication between parents and students and enhance the relationship between them."
"Improve feelings?" Han Yebin sneered, as if he was very disdainful, but he didn't say anything more and quickly changed the subject.
It was soon ten o'clock, and the other executors came back. Soon, some parents and their children came one after another, and Room 403 immediately became lively. I hosted the event with everyone, and one small game after another quickly livened up the atmosphere. Han Yebin was standing outside the venue watching, and when I looked at him occasionally, I could always make eye contact with him.
"Aren't you coming to play with us?" I asked him during a break in a game. I was a little embarrassed - I hadn't told him that his parents would be coming, so I just asked him to wait here. But he didn't find it boring and stayed here to watch.
"This kind of activity requires the participation of parents and their children, right?" He smiled faintly, "I'd rather not participate."
"If your parents were here, would you be like them..." I said, pointing to the people in the room who were having fun and smiling, "happily participating in our activities?"
Han Yebin still smiled faintly, as if he was not involved: "My master will not come."
You guessed wrong this time.
Thinking of that "surprise", the smile on my face became even brighter. A long time later, when I recalled my feelings at that time, I felt ironic and bitter. If I had discovered Han Yebin's subconscious resistance to this activity earlier, perhaps the series of events that followed would not have happened.
However, time cannot be turned back, and I was once again busy with the activities. Groups of people came and left until An Mujin brought in a few parents.
"Ling Jiantong!" An Mujin opened the door and waved at me with a smile, "Come over and greet me."
Before I could answer, I heard a sharp sound of a chair being dragged in the corner. The sound was so harsh and abrupt that everyone looked in that direction - it was Han Yebin who suddenly jumped up from his chair with a look of shock, staring at the people who came in from the door with an ugly expression.
"Why are you here?" Han Yebin cried out, probably because he was too shocked.
I understood immediately and cast my eyes on the people who came in. Sure enough, a well-dressed couple was looking at Han Yebin. The man frowned and said coldly, "We came to the school to see our son. Is there anything wrong?"
Han Yebin snorted coldly, picked up his coat on the chair, and seemed to want to leave. Seeing this, An Mujin hurried forward to stop him.
"Han Yebin, where are you going?" She turned around and winked at me, "Ling Jiantong, those are the parents you contacted, why don't you go and entertain them quickly?"
Han Yebin suddenly stopped moving, and his eyes passed An Mujin and looked directly at me. Those cold and suspicious eyes were clearly asking a question - did you call my parents over?
I also felt that something seemed to be wrong - the surprise of the parents and children reuniting as I had imagined was not there at all, but the shock was great. So in the face of Han Yebin's silent question, I could only nod awkwardly, and then I didn't dare to look at him again, and hurried to receive the parents.
There were many chairs in the activity room, and parents and children who did not participate in the game temporarily sat in this waiting area. Although he reacted strongly at first, Han Yebin did not leave the table in the end. With a gloomy face, he sat next to his parents under the guidance of An Mujin. I shuttled in the waiting area to serve tea and water to the parents. When I passed by Han Yebin, I heard him say in a voice that only the two of us could hear: "I stayed for your sake."
I was stunned, looked at my classmates who were chatting happily with their parents nearby, and then looked at Han Yebin whose face was as cold as an iceberg. Suddenly, I felt a little helpless.
"They are your parents." I whispered, "Do you have to treat them like enemies?"
Han Yebin's lips moved, but his father's gaze fell on me, and he finally just looked at me deeply and said nothing.
The previous group of parents finally left and the venue was empty. Several event organizers went to invite the new parents to participate in the next round of activities. I walked over to Han Yebin and the others and made the invitation with a smile.
"Uncle and aunt, please come and participate in the event with Han Yebin!"
"I don't think that's necessary." Han Yebin's mother was a very beautiful woman, but she exuded a cold aura that kept people away from her, and her voice was a little sharp and harsh. "I came here to see my son appear on the podium, a meaningful occasion, not to come here to participate in some boring game!"
"That's right." Han Yebin's father is obviously a serious person. I haven't seen him frown since he walked in. "We took time out of our busy schedule to come here, and you actually let us participate in such a childish and time-wasting event? Who is your event planner? Aren't the final exams coming up soon? You actually organize such a useless event!"
Many eyes immediately turned to me - most people present thought I was the main planner, but they didn't know that I was just an executor, and the real planner was actually An Mujin. The cold atmosphere here had already affected the atmosphere of the whole venue. Many parents and students who were excited to participate in the game activities stopped awkwardly, and some simply quietly sat back in their seats.
Seeing the tense atmosphere, An Mujin quickly came out to smooth things over: "Uncle and aunt, this is Ling Jiantong's first time planning an event, so there are many things that I haven't considered carefully. Please forgive me." After saying that, An Mujin turned to me, and the gentle smile on her face was replaced by a serious and stern look. "Ling Jiantong, you did a terrible job this time. In the future, you can't be so willful and decide on activities based on your personal preferences. Planning must take all aspects into consideration, do you understand?"
I stared in a daze at the girl in front of me who was always gentle to others. After a while, she finally lowered her head.
“I’m sorry…” I felt my voice trembling, “I will reflect on it.”
"Let's go." Han Yebin's parents seemed satisfied with my apology and stopped dwelling on it. They stood up and said to Han Yebin, who had been sitting next to them with a gloomy face and said nothing, "Yebin, you should also come with us to meet your class teacher. We want to learn about your recent performance in school."
The two men walked a few steps and stopped again when they found that their son had not caught up with them.
"Yebin!" Han Yebin's father's face also turned ugly, and his tone was even more severe than before, "What are you doing? Are you trying to waste time on purpose?"
Han Yebin suddenly stood up, his eyes swept over his parents coldly, and his voice was almost squeezed out from between his teeth.
"Have you had enough of the noise?"
Everyone in the audience was stunned, and even Han Yebin's parents finally showed a look of surprise.
"You shouldn't have come at all!" Han Yebin was like an erupting volcano, and his long-accumulated emotions suddenly burst out at this moment. "You usually ignore me, and you still have the nerve to say that I am your son? Who are you? What qualifications do you have to point fingers at me? What qualifications do you have to arbitrarily criticize my friends?"
Han Yebin's mother subconsciously covered her mouth, as if she couldn't believe that her son dared to openly accuse them. Han Yebin's father's face was so gloomy that water seemed to drip out.
"Your friend?" He suddenly looked at me with disdain on his face. "She? She can't even plan an event properly. She's obviously a poor student. How dare you associate with someone like her?"
"What did you say?" Han Yebin was furious and rushed over to hit me. I was shocked and quickly reached out to grab him. My mind was also in a mess, and there was only one thought that kept lingering in my mind - I must resolve this conflict. Han Yebin's relationship with his parents was already very bad, and I must not make it worse!
"Han Yebin, calm down!" I tried to stop Han Yebin, fearing that he would do something out of line. "Your parents are so busy, but they still take time out to participate in school activities. It shows that they still care about you. Why can't you sit down and talk to them calmly?"
"Why should I have a good talk with them?" Han Yebin was obviously furious and spoke without restraint, "How can they be parents? They have never been with me, and now they want to interfere with me! If possible, I don't want to be their son! I would rather cut off all ties with them forever!"
"Shut up!" I don't know where I got the strength from, but I pulled hard and Han Yebin staggered back a few steps and fell directly into the chair.
"Han Yebin! Do you know what you are saying?" I yelled, "Is it okay to say this to your parents?"
As if he suddenly woke up from his madness, Han Yebin trembled all over, sat on the chair, and stared at me blankly. Probably everyone was frightened by Han Yebin's crazy look just now, and there was silence for a while, even Han Yebin's parents looked shocked and unable to recover.
"Are you on their side?" Han Yebin stammered, staring at me blankly, as if he had taken a lot of effort to say this.
I felt an inexplicable pain in my heart, but reason made me choose the most appropriate words for this moment.
"They are your parents after all," I said.
Just like a burning flame suddenly being poured with a basin of cold water, Han Yebin's bright eyes dimmed instantly. He looked at me, then at his parents over there, and after a long time, he murmured a word, so softly that only I could hear it.
"It turns out you don't understand my feelings at all."
Without waiting for me to react, he suddenly stood up. I subconsciously wanted to pull him, but he shook my hand away.
"Don't pretend you know me so well!"
Han Yebin gave me one last deep look, then rushed to the door and ran out of the activity room without looking back.
