Chapter 101: The Weird Child
Qin Qi held his hands in front of his chest, as if trying to find a good place to put the flowerpot.
"It's best not to put flower pots in the bedroom." Su Luo touched her nose and felt a little depressed. How could she leave such an impression in the child's mind?
Qin Qi looked back at her, waiting for her to explain further.
"The soil in the flowerpot will produce fungal spores. When they spread into the air, they can easily invade the human skin, respiratory tract, external auditory canal, meninges and brain. You are still young and your resistance is not strong. If you are not careful, you may get infected."
Qin Qi continued to look at Su Luo in confusion.
"It's just that... flower pots with soil... are very dirty. Putting them in the bedroom will affect your health."
"I cleaned it very well." Qin Qi showed the clean porcelain basin to Su Luo, and then placed the basin next to the window with a serious face. Su Luo knew from his eyes that she was destined to be a "weird aunt".
"Did my father ask you to come?" Qin Qi looked back at Su Luo after placing the flowerpot.
"It's your aunt." Su Luo shrugged. "She ran away after finding me. Your yard is so big that I couldn't see anyone. I just... got lost."
"There aren't many people in our house to begin with. My aunt must not be home at this time. My grandmother is taking a nap, and the servants are not allowed to walk around casually, so you can't see anyone."
Su Luo stuck his head out to take a look, "Why is there no one in your yard? Did the servants take advantage of your young age and go out to be lazy?"
"I don't like them. I live well on my own." Qin Qi acted like an adult, and then said proudly: "I fought hard for this."
Su Luo gave him a thumbs up. He was indeed the son of a time traveler. He understood human rights and freedom, and knew what it meant to fight for them.
Children always like to be praised by others. They were a little proud for a moment, but still looked at Su Luo with a stern face, "Do you want to sit for a while? Or do you want to leave right away?"
Su Luo wanted to laugh. This child didn't seem so unlovable after all, just a little bit awkward. He clearly wanted her to stay and talk, and even gave her two choices.
"Can you take me out?" Su Luo asked deliberately.
Qin Qi's face fell, "Then I'll ask someone to take you out."
"I changed my mind again." Su Luo walked to the window and sat down, looking at the small pot of flowers on the table, "I want to sit for a while before leaving."
"It's not good for women to be too fickle." Qin Qi gave a lecture, but he couldn't wait to go out, "I'll get you some hot water."
Su Luo stood up and walked to the round table in the middle of the room. He lifted the lid of the teapot on the table, but it was empty. This was a bit inconsistent with the treatment of a young master of the Qin family.
Following the sound to the backyard, Su Luo broke into a sweat. The young master was holding a two-foot-long axe, ready to chop the dry firewood on the ground.
"You don't have to do these things, right?" Su Luo hurried over and took the axe from his hand.
Qin Qi snatched it back and continued to poison the firewood on the ground. "I'm old enough now, I want to try everything. I don't want to be a person who knows nothing about life. I finally convinced my aunt and grandmother to let me live alone for a while."
"You really don't know how lucky you are." Su Luo pouted and snatched the axe again, "I'll do it. I'm clumsy, see? The axe can't be raised too high. Cut it in a little bit first, then chop it hard, eh?"
Qin Qi stood aside and watched Su Luo's actions attentively, "What's wrong?"
Su Luo chopped the firewood easily. "It's nothing. I'm just surprised that the firewood of rich people grows so neatly. Each one looks like twins, and there are ready-made gaps for the axe on them." Su Luo straightened another piece of firewood, raised the axe and chopped it down, finding some of the feeling of Li Kui.
Qin Qi came over and picked up a piece of firewood to look at it, his face a little heavy, "Did my aunt and the others arrange it?"
Su Luo shrugged and knocked open another piece of firewood. "Anyway, I've never seen other people's firewood look like . Who would be willing to use such neat wood as firewood?"
Qin Qi stopped talking and sat down at the door of the small kitchen, his hands around his knees, a look of disappointment on his face.
Su Luo threw down the axe and hugged the chopped firewood in her arms. When she walked into the small kitchen, she gently kicked Qin Qi with her foot, "Don't be ungrateful. How many people can't live a life like you even if they struggle all their lives. Why do you insist on experiencing the suffering of the people? Even if you are allowed to taste it, what will happen? Do you want to make a living by chopping firewood in the future? Knowing how to appreciate delicious food does not necessarily mean you have to be able to cook it. You can do everything, so what's the point of the cook?"
Qin Qi pondered for a while, then got up and followed Su Luo into the kitchen. He watched Su Luo pile the firewood in the stove in a serious manner, find some hay and use a fire stick to make a fire. He asked with a little envy, "Why do you know how to do this?"
"Because my family didn't have maids or servants, I had to do it myself." Su Luo threw the burning hay into the stove and puffed up his cheeks to blow. "Our family used to be so poor that even thieves who came in would have to leave crying."
Qin Qi smiled, then immediately pursed his lips to prevent himself from smiling too obviously, "Is the shop I went to that day yours?"
Su Luo nodded proudly. "One and a half years, isn't that amazing?"
Qin Qi was not convinced, "My father brought Qin Ji's business back to life in just six months."
"How are they the same? You have a foundation, but my family could barely make ends meet and had to eat sweet potato porridge every day."
Qin Qi compared them silently, and finally admitted, "You are pretty good, but my dad is the best."
Su Luo turned around and looked at him strangely, "Why were you so cold to your father that day?"
Qin Qi still had a proud look on his face, but when he heard Su Luo's words, he immediately frowned and said, "That's not indifference."
Su Luo raised her eyebrows, her face full of disapproval, but she did not ask any further questions. She turned back and continued to blow the fire. After blowing for a long time, she found a thick hollow bamboo next to the stove. She quickly picked it up and used it to blow air.
Seeing that Su Luo didn't ask, Qin Qi finally couldn't help but speak after pouting for a long time, "That's 'the friendship between gentlemen is as pure as water'."
"Ahem... Ahem..." It was the first time Su Luo heard someone describe the relationship between father and son like this.
A small hand reached out to Su Luo's back and hammered it for a long time. Su Luo turned around and said thank you, not noticing Qin Qi's frightened look.
"Will you become my mother? Or will you marry Uncle Zimao?" Qin Qi stood up and stood at the door.
“Cough cough cough…”
"Don't you want to answer?" Qin Qi asked, tilting his head.
"I was choked!" Su Luo turned her head with red eyes and tears on her face, "Why do you ask this? Where did this rumor come from?"
"My father and aunt had a quarrel yesterday, and I accidentally passed by and heard it."
"What did you hear?" Su Luo smiled gossipy. "Come here. Why are you standing so far away?"
Qin Qi shook his head in shock, "Didn't you notice that there's more and more smoke in the kitchen?"
"..." Su Luo threw down the hollow bamboo in giving up, pulled out the burnt and smoking firewood from the stove, extinguished the sparks on the firewood, and pulled Qin Qi out of the kitchen.
"Operation Boil Water has officially failed."
Qin Qi looked back at the kitchen unwillingly, "Don't you cook it often?"
"Not often. I've tried it once or twice before, but both were failures."
Qin Qi frowned immediately, "Were you lying to me just now?"
"Of course not." Su Luo wiped his eyes with his sleeve, "I just forgot to tell you that although my family has no maids or servants, I have a younger brother who is five years older than you. He usually takes care of me."
Qin Qi immediately showed a look of contempt, Su Luo narrowed her eyes and remained calm, "Everyone has their own value of existence, and the division of labor is different. There is no reason for me to do something that I can't do. Of course, if I concentrate on learning, making a fire and cooking is not you. It's not a bad thing to want to experience it, but there's no point in forcing it if you can't succeed. Just do it for the sake of showing your appreciation, don't take it so seriously."
Qin Qi struggled for a long time, pinching his face, "What you said is different from what they said."
"Oh?" Su Luo smiled with renewed energy, "Is there anything special about it?"
Qin Qi nodded, and Su Luo clenched his fist confidently, "I don't look like a ' weird aunt' now, do I?"
Qin Qi hesitated for a while, as if he couldn't convince himself after all, and changed the subject, "I didn't listen to the whole thing. At the beginning, it seemed that she was talking about my father's remarriage. Then I heard my aunt asked my father what the relationship between you and Uncle Zimao was. My father said that your relationship is very special and that he envied you. Then my aunt asked my father if he liked you too. My father didn't say anything, so I think it was tacit consent."
Su Luo was stunned for a long time before he realized that the kid was continuing the previous topic and adding his own comments. He didn't know whether to say that his reaction time was too long or that he was slow to react.
Su Luo asked if your father had not had a good rest these days? Qin Qi said he should be fine. Su Luo said how could he still talk nonsense if he had a good rest? They have nothing to do with me.
Qin Qi shrugged like Su Luo, "Things between men and women are very complicated. I hope I won't be so complicated in the future."
Su Luo was sweating again. Children nowadays mature too precociously.
But what is Qin Huai doing? What does it mean that she has an unusual relationship with Li Rusong?
