Chapter 10 True Letting Go 5
The scorching heat of summer slowly fades away with the arrival of autumn wind.
After a night of wind and rain, the leaves of the sycamore trees on campus fell all over the ground. Looking around, it looked like a gorgeous golden carpet, embellishing a corner of the campus.
"Well, that's great. School is back!" I stretched lazily and smiled back at Wei Jimu beside me, "President, welcome back."
"Class monitor, thank you for being by my side." Reaching out and scratching the tip of my nose, Wei Jimo held my hand and walked towards the classroom. "Well, I have two pieces of news to tell you, one good news and one bad news. Which one do you want to hear first?"
"Of course it's good news." I tilted my head and thought for a moment, then said, "I also have something to tell you. But, I'm an elegant lady, so gentlemen are preferred."
"The good news is that my grandfather no longer opposes our relationship." Wei Jimo stopped and looked at me deeply, with a gentle smile in his eyes.
"Really? Wei Jimo, today isn't April Fool's Day, is it? You're not lying to me?" This news really surprised and excited me. I was so excited that I almost jumped up.
"Silly boy, even if you give me the courage of heaven, I wouldn't dare to joke about such a thing." Giving me a look that said "you are an idiot", the president expressed his helplessness.
"Is this the sun rising from the west? Or is the end of the world coming soon? Wei Jimo, tell me quickly, how did you convince your grandfather?"
"It wasn't me." Wei Jimo shook his head, a complex expression flashed across his lowered eyes, "It was... Aunt Wang. She convinced my grandfather."
"Oh?" I raised my eyebrows. This news was even more shocking than Grandpa Wei's change of character.
"Maybe Grandpa was really scared by Dad's car accident. He almost experienced the separation of life and death from his own son, which made him have some epiphany." Wei Jimo held my hand and said with relief.
"Coupled with Aunt Wang's advice before she left, Grandpa finally understood that no matter if it was Dad or me, we all had our own lives and it was impossible for us to follow the path he planned. His coercion and tyranny could only be a tool to push us away, but could not make us love him more. So after thinking it over, Grandpa told me that he would no longer interfere in my life."
I keenly caught the clues in Wei Jimo's words and asked curiously, "You said, Aunt Wang is gone? Where did she go?"
"She and my father are divorced. After leaving the hospital last time, Aunt Wang disappeared for several days. After she came back, she seemed to be reborn." Hearing this, Wei Jimu raised the corner of his mouth and smiled.
I don’t know why, but I feel that there is a bit of loneliness hidden in his smile .
"She found her father and wanted to divorce him. She told him that she suddenly felt that it was very foolish to spend all these years on a man who didn't love her at all, so she decided to let her father go and let herself go."
"This is a good thing, we should congratulate her!"
When a person finally stops dwelling on past mistakes, hope begins, doesn't it?
"But I suddenly feel a little sorry for her. After all, in order to get my father's love, she has endured humiliation and always listened to my grandfather and raised me as her own son over the past ten years." Looking up at the distant blue sky in autumn, Wei Jimo sighed, "And Ji Feng, I didn't expect that he suffered so much because of me. In the future, I will try my best to get along well with him and strive to be a truly good brother."
"Well, it's a must!" I looked at him with a smile, feeling a little proud and relieved.
Suddenly, I thought of something and blurted out, "But at the end of the season, you still owe someone a word. Tomorrow is Aunt Su's birthday. Have you figured out what to do?"
"Of course." Wei Jimo held my hand tightly, and under the azure blue sky, he smiled brilliantly, "Yining, can you go with me tomorrow? I still owe her calling her 'Mom', I owed her that for a long time!"
