Chapter 1 Dust 2
Dad brought the soup out from the kitchen, sat down and said, "Daughter, eat quickly. Don't be hungry."
I picked up the chopsticks and started to fight with the food.
This is my dad, the man who loves me the most in the world.
Chen Qiaoluo called me at around nine o'clock. When I saw his name, I felt unhappy. After hesitating for a while, I finally answered the call.
"Chen Qiaoluo, you still have the nerve to call me?"
Facing my sudden accusation, Chen Qiaoluo was stunned for a moment, then asked in confusion: "Did I offend you, Miss Zhu, in any way? You got so angry with me before I even said this."
"If I'm not mad at you, who should I be mad at?" I retorted, "If you hadn't accompanied me today, I wouldn't have gone to the skating rink alone, and I wouldn't have fallen, and my knee wouldn't have been hurt. So, who should I blame if I don't blame you?"
Chen Qiaoluo on the other end of the phone was silent for two seconds, then laughed and said, "Okay, whatever you say makes sense."
"Of course." I replied as a matter of course.
"But aren't you a very good skating skill? How come you fell down out of nowhere?" he asked in confusion.
"Who knows? Maybe it's just my bad luck." I closed the book beside me and asked, "Chen Qiaoluo, will you go to school tomorrow? "
He hesitated for a few seconds before saying, "I don't know, it depends on the situation."
"Humph, it's the same as if you didn't say anything." I couldn't help but roll my eyes at the ceiling and said, "Chen Qiaoluo, you are really good at chasing girls. You haven't been to school for so many days in a row. Aren't you afraid of being punished again?"
"What are you afraid of? I've been on sick leave for a long time." He said with a smile.
"You are quite smart, boy."
"That's right."
After hanging up the phone, I packed up and prepared to go to bed. When I covered myself with the quilt, I saw the band-aid and Xu Xuan's image suddenly appeared in my mind.
I was distracted for a moment, then smiled and covered myself with the quilt.
The next morning, as soon as I arrived at school, I saw Guyu. He was wearing a clean school uniform, and his delicate face was almost transparent under the sunlight. I stood there for a long time, and only hurried to the classroom when the bell rang.
On this day, Chen Qiaoluo still did not come to class. When I passed by their class, I took a quick glance and his seat was still empty.
The coursework in the second year of high school was tight and boring. I leaned against the window to look at the white clouds, while the math teacher on the podium chattered on about equations.
"Hello Zhu Yun, the teacher is watching you." My deskmate Gigi poked my arm and said in a low voice.
I turned around and saw the math teacher staring at me. I was stunned for a moment, then lowered my head to read the book and thanked Gigi Lai.
I am not very familiar with this deskmate. We were not in the same class in the first year of high school, and we were not familiar with each other after the class division. I did not sit with her until a month ago when the seats were changed. Unlike other girls who were noisy, Gigi Lai was gentle and kind to almost everyone and responded to their requests.
I don't hate her, I even like her a little.
After waiting for the morning class to end, I walked to the school cafeteria alone. In No. 12 Middle School, I was not a good student. I skipped classes all the time and didn't like studying. If I hadn't gotten decent grades in every exam, I'm afraid the teacher would have given up on me long ago.
As I am now, it seems that I have no friends except Chen Qiaoluo.
Speaking of my "evil fate" with Chen Qiaoluo, it can be traced back to a school meeting half a year ago.
At that time, I was addicted to an online game and spent all my time online, even skipping classes at school. Finally, our head teacher couldn't stand it anymore, not only did he call my dad to record a minor demerit for me, but he also criticized me by name at the school meeting.
Chen Qiaoluo was not much better than me. When I saw him on the podium, he had bruises on his face. From the statement of the dean of discipline, I learned that he had participated in an off-campus fight and was brought up on stage for punishment just like me.
To be honest, I have never been criticized like this in my life, and I was a little depressed for a while.
On the other hand, Chen Qiaoluo seemed to have been used to it for a long time. While the dean of discipline was speaking in front, he lowered his head and took out his mobile phone to look at it.
This was a podium with thousands of people staring at it, and I was surprised by his action.
As if noticing my gaze, Chen Qiaoluo turned around and looked at me, raising the corners of his bruised mouth and smiling at me.
This kid is too arrogant.
For a moment, I was stunned. Maybe it was because I was young and ignorant at that time, I actually thought Chen Qiaoluo's behavior was very handsome, and before I knew it, my admiration for him was like a torrent of water.
It seemed as if our acquaintance happened naturally. Later, I asked Chen Qiaoluo why he became friends with me. He told me that he had never seen a girl get punished for skipping class, so he wanted to know what kind of person I was.
After buying my meal from the cafeteria window, I found an empty seat and sat down.
Halfway through the meal, a shadow suddenly appeared on the table. I looked up and saw Guyu standing in front of me.
He smiled and asked, "Is anyone sitting here?"
I was stunned for a few seconds, then quickly replied: "No, no one is sitting here."
I behaved very cautiously for a full twenty minutes, and even after Guyu left, my ears were still hot.
Different from uneducated students like me and Chen Qiaoluo, Guyu is a legend in this school. He is good-looking, good at studies, and even his interpersonal relationships are impeccable.
I like him.
Although Chen Qiaoluo once made fun of this matter, in his opinion, Guyu and I are like the stars in the sky and the grass on the ground, and we are incompatible in any way.
I also know the gap between Guyu and me, but I like him, so what can I do?
It was just a fleeting glimpse at the opening ceremony of my first year in high school, but I didn't expect that he would accompany me for two years. It's not that I didn't want to confess to Guyu, but I was afraid of getting hurt. So I could only stand quietly in the distance and secretly watch him, like a fool.
But my secret love was soon shattered by reality.
The weather was good that day, and I went back to school as usual. But after the first class, the news that Guyu had a girlfriend spread out, and it became a hot topic in the school in just one morning . This week, Chen Qiaoluo still didn't come to class. I listened to the discussion about Guyu in the class, and I was immediately panicked.
I wanted to talk to Chen Qiaoluo and vent my feelings, but no one answered his phone.
At noon, I didn't go to the cafeteria, but went to the rooftop of the old teaching building to calm down. This teaching building has been abandoned for a long time, and few people have set foot on the rooftop.
All the things about Guyu in the morning have made me exhausted, as if the treasure I had treasured for two years was suddenly stolen, and I don’t even know who the thief is.
I sat on the edge of the rooftop, hugging my knees sadly, and the wind blew gently across my face.
I don’t know how long it had been, but I heard the sound of footsteps. I turned around and saw Guyu walking towards me.
As if he didn't expect there to be someone here, he paused for a moment and said apologetically, "I'm sorry, classmate, I didn't know you were here."
I looked at him and said nothing.
Seeing that I had no intention of speaking, he turned around and wanted to leave.
Seeing this, my body reacted faster than my mouth, and I rushed to him and stopped him.
Guyu looked at me puzzledly and asked, "Classmate, is there anything else?"
I bit my lip and didn't know how to start speaking for a long time.
Seeing me like this, Guyu was not in a hurry. He stood there patiently waiting for me to speak.
The news that Guyu had a girlfriend made me panic. The thought of confessing my love to him kept coming back to me. His face was right in front of me, and I could even touch him if I just stretched out my hand.
"I..." I opened my mouth, but found that my voice was already hoarse.
After a while, I finally made up my mind, looked at him and asked, "Is it true that you have a girlfriend?"
"Girlfriend?" Guyu frowned, then smiled at me and said, "Are you talking about the thing that has been circulating this morning?"
Seeing me nod, he continued: "Those were just jokes from classmates, don't take them seriously."
So, Guyu doesn’t have a girlfriend. This news is like a heavy rain in a dry desert, which instantly brings an oasis to my heart.
All the previous worries and unhappiness disappeared in an instant.
However, just because there is no such thing now doesn’t mean there will be no such thing in the future.
In just a minute, waves began to surge in my heart again.
If I don't confess, will I have to keep this shameful feeling for the rest of my life?
I want to tell him that I like him.
Once this thought came to mind, it immediately swept through my mind.
I looked up at Guyu and said almost subconsciously, "Guyu, I like you."
As soon as the words fell, everything around us seemed to have lost its sound. The wind stopped, the camphor trees downstairs no longer made rustling sounds, and it seemed that only the sound of our shallow breathing remained in the whole world.
It turns out that the words "I like you" are not as difficult to say as I thought.
I don’t know how long it took, but Guyu in front of me said apologetically : “Classmate, I’m sorry.”
This is considered a rejection.
I felt a dull pain in my heart, but I still smiled and said to him, "There's nothing to be sorry about. This was just my wishful thinking. Well, I have something else to do, so I'll leave first."
After saying that, I didn’t even look at Guyu, turned around and ran downstairs.
It was not until I ran downstairs to a deserted place that I could hold back my tears. My first crush, my first love, I didn’t expect it to end like this.
I stood at the front desk of the game room, my ears filled with the background music of the game.
The waiter put the exchanged game coins in a box and handed it to me, smiling and saying, "Miss, please take your game coins."
I took the game coin and walked in in a daze.
Guyu's rejection made me sadder than I thought. I went to the racing game and experienced the thrill of a car crash. I played alone for about half an hour before I took out my phone and called Chen Qiaoluo.
After the busy tone sounded for a long time, Chen Qiaoluo's familiar voice came.
"Miss Zhu, what else do you want to teach me?"
When I heard his voice, my heart was filled with sorrow. I was silent for a few seconds before I whispered to him, "Chen Qiaoluo, I'm at the Weiman Arcade in the city center. Can you come over and keep me company?"
I don't know what Chen Qiaoluo is busy with. There is a lot of noise on the other end of the phone. He seems to be busy. After listening to my request, he just said lightly: "Hello Zhu Jun, I have something to do now, you can play first."
"But I..." My heart felt like a bucket of cold water was poured over it. My words got stuck in my throat. After a while, I continued, "You go ahead and do your work. I'll wait for you here. Come find me when you're done."
"Whatever." Chen Qiaoluo replied perfunctorily and hung up the phone.
Some things and feelings need to be said in person. Neither phone calls nor letters can ever express the feelings.
This afternoon, I played all the games in the arcade, from crazy racing to slam dunk. It seemed that only by playing these games could I vent my feelings of heartbreak.
