Chapter 0051: Hair Tie
It was quiet all around, the night wind blew, the shadows of the trees swayed, and we walked around the yard but didn't find anything unusual.
Wang Ruoyu glanced at the room where Old Sun lived and said, "There's no one else here. Is that old man doing something?"
Zhu Xiaomei also said: "This old man is so strange. Why are there still people carrying lanterns now? It always feels scary."
I told them not to think too much, and after returning to the room, I lay back on the bed.
The two women sat there, staring at each other. I ignored them and lay there with my eyes closed to rest.
Because the door was open, cool night wind blew in from time to time, causing the old wooden bed to shake slightly and make a creaking sound.
Suddenly there were a few bangs outside, as if someone was knocking on the window outside.
I opened my eyes and saw Wang Ruoyu rushing out quickly, followed by a scream of "Ah".
When Zhu Xiaomei and I rushed out to take a look, we saw Wang Ruo and the woman collapsed on the ground in fear. In front of her stood a skinny old man with a lantern in his hand. His ugly face looked even more terrifying in the dim firelight.
"Grandpa, you haven't slept yet?" I greeted him with a smile.
Old Sun chuckled and said, "I am used to sleeping during the day and keeping watch at night."
At this time, Wang Ruoyu got up from the ground and asked with lingering fear: "Why are you knocking on our window in the middle of the night?"
Old Sun pointed at the door and said, "It's windy here at night. I'm afraid you three will get cold, so I thought of reminding you to close the door."
Wang Ruoyu asked coldly, "Then why did you come over and knock on the door so many times before?"
Old Sun showed a puzzled look: "Before? I was in the house the whole time and never came out."
Wang Ruoyu didn't believe him. "Who else could it be except you? I warn you, don't play tricks on me, or I will fire you immediately!"
Old Sun looked aggrieved and kept shaking his head, saying "it's unfair".
I tried to smooth things over and said that this matter should have nothing to do with the old man.
Wang Ruoyu glared at me, but Old Sun kept thanking me. To be honest, it wasn't him. He was an honest and decent man and never did anything bad.
I pointed at his lantern and asked curiously, "Grandpa, your lantern is quite old, right?"
Old Sun nodded and said, "Yes, I have used it for many years."
I said, "The quality is really good. It has not deteriorated after using it for so long. The lantern skin looks very special, not like ordinary oil paper."
Old Sun chuckled.
I stared at the lantern for a while and said, "It doesn't look like cowhide or sheepskin either."
Wang Ruoyu was getting impatient. "What on earth do you want to ask?"
I ignored her and suddenly asked, "Could it be human skin?"
Wang Ruoyu and Zhu Xiaomei took a few steps back in shock. Old Sun laughed and said, "Master, you are joking. This is just ordinary donkey skin."
I didn’t pursue the matter further and just said “Oh, so that’s how it is.”
Old Sun smiled naively, "It's cold at night, so it's easy to attract unclean things, so young master and young lady should be careful."
As he said this, he walked away, hunched over, carrying the lantern.
When we returned to the house, Wang Ruoyu asked me in dissatisfaction: "What human skin did you just say? Who are you trying to scare?"
I said, "That's hard to say, but it's definitely not donkey skin."
The two women's faces turned pale, and Zhu Xiaomei also said, "I've seen donkey skin, it's definitely not like that."
Wang Ruoyu simply slammed the door, sat back on the stool, and said that no matter what happened, she would not open the door.
I slept in bed for a while, and when I was half asleep, I heard someone banging on the door again.
And the sound became louder and louder, as if someone was pounding on the door outside, which was terrifying to hear.
Wang Ruoyu and Zhu Xiaomei couldn't stand it anymore, so they pulled me up to open the door, but as soon as the door was opened, the knocking sound disappeared immediately.
Besides, there was no one outside the house, not even a ghost.
Zhu Xiaomei's face turned pale, and Wang Ruoyu, who had been shouting that he didn't believe in evil, also became a little crazy. Both of them were on the verge of collapse.
When I looked at the time, it was already two o'clock in the morning, which is the darkest time of the day.
I washed my face with a basin of water and felt much more awake. I then found a large earthenware bowl, filled it with water and placed it on the coffee table.
"Sister Xiaomei, can you give me a handful of your hair?"
Zhu Xiaomei was stunned for a moment, "Hair?"
Seeing that I really wanted hair, she didn't ask why, but grabbed her own hair and asked me how much I wanted.
I said one handful would be enough, so I used a carving knife to cut off a strand of her long hair, tied it into a few knots, and put it into a bowl full of water.
"What are you doing?" Wang Ruoyu showed disgust on his face, "You are not a pervert, are you?"
I ignored her questioning and fiddled with the knot in the water and said, "Sister-in-law, give me a handful of your hair too."
Wang Ruoyu said angrily: "Why don't you try calling sister-in-law again?"
"Sister, please help me with my hair too." I changed my words.
Wang Ruoyu refused outright: “Dream on!”
I put the knot in the water into the right position, then looked up and said, "Did you hear the knocking on the door just now? It was the little ghost knocking on the door."
Zhu Xiaomei exclaimed, "Ah!" Wang Ruoyu sneered, "Keep making it up. What little devil is knocking on the door?"
Zhu Xiaomei couldn't help but ask: "Is this a ghost knocking on the door?"
Wang Ruoyu sneered. Seeing that she looked unimpressed, I smiled and said to Zhu Xiaomei, "Little ghost knocking on the door is a more professional term. In layman's terms, it's a ghost knocking on the door."
Zhu Xiaomei asked nervously, "I heard that people who encounter ghosts knocking on their doors usually... die the next day. Is that true?"
I nodded and said, "They usually get strangled to death, with their tongues sticking out."
Wang Ruoyu's face turned pale when he heard this.
I continued, "But it's not impossible to crack the little ghost knocking on the door. It's two o'clock in the morning. The timing is just right."
Zhu Xiaomei exclaimed in sudden realization: "You took my hair just to break the law?"
I said yes, and just as I finished speaking, Wang Ruoyu spread his hands towards me and said, "Give me the knife. It's just a bunch of hair. I'll give it to you and see what you can do with it!"
I secretly laughed but didn't point it out to her. I handed her the carving knife and waited for her to cut off a handful of hair. I also tied a knot and put it into water.
Then he asked the two men to cut their middle fingers with a knife and drop two drops of blood into a bowl.
Wang Ruoyu said cautiously, "Why do I think you are evil?"
"A good spell is one that works," I replied.
After the two of them had each dripped blood, I moved the coffee table to the Liusha position in the room and placed the bowl of water in the middle.
The two women sat around, staring at the water bowl intently.
I felt a little sleepy, so I dozed off on the table. I heard Wang Ruoyu asking, "Is that all? Grabbing a handful of hair and making it bleed is totally the way of a liar!"
I ignored her and took a nap. Suddenly, I heard two women exclaiming. Zhu Xiaomei's voice was shouting, "Mr. Chen, look!"
