Chapter 005: Organ
The strangest thing in the whole room is the walls. The walls are covered with red and black ink paintings, and the main color is dark yellow. Some of the paintings show rolling white clouds, some show misty mountains. One mural is even stranger. It shows a group of unknown people surrounding a man who looks like a wizard. The wizard is holding a turtle shell and carving words on it. The background is a mountain forest covered with dark clouds.
As we walked in the room, I felt an indescribable evil spirit in the room, but Li Daming was fascinated by the murals, especially the ones with figures. He looked at them very carefully and even took out his mobile phone to take pictures.
"Do you see what's going on?" I asked.
Li Daming illuminated the mural with a flashlight and said, "Can't you see it?"
I asked what was going on.
"In ancient times, people used the method of burning turtle shells to predict good and bad luck, and then looked at the cracks on the turtle shells to judge good and bad luck." Li Daming said: "Turtles are the most magical thing. Legend has it that a divine turtle came out of the Luo River, carrying the Luoshu. Fuxi saw it and was enlightened, and then he created the Eight Trigrams and the Book of Changes. This is the earliest Taoist view of the universe."
He swept the whole room with his flashlight, looked at the murals and said, "Interesting, interesting. Do you know how I feel?"
"What?" My throat moved up and down.
"This place doesn't look like a bedroom, but more like an ancient tomb," said Li Daming. "These murals are tomb paintings, expressing the wishes and aspirations of the deceased."
"Wait." I waved my hands: "I'm a little confused. This is Wang Yue's bedroom. She didn't ask me to come here just to see this... Could it be that she has already ..." I pointed to the black coffin in the middle.
Li Daming scratched his head, walked around the coffin, and said that the secret might be in this coffin. We must find a way to open it.
With him around, I'm not so nervous. Now I'm more curious and worried. What is Wang Yue trying to do with such a big project, including coffins and murals? What's her current state?
Thinking of her strange sleepwalking symptoms that night, I felt a chill. These strange elements in front of me were beyond my cognition and could not be strung together into a reasonable logical chain.
Li Daming hammered at the black coffin and used a flashlight to illuminate every inch of it. There were no patterns on the surface of the coffin, just a few ordinary black boards put together, the joints were tightly fitted, but there was not a single nail to be found. The craftsmanship looked rough but was actually fine.
Li Daming turned around several times but couldn't find a way to open the coffin. The lid of the coffin was tightly connected to the coffin body, and we couldn't lift it even if we tried our best. Li Daming said, "This craftsmanship is amazing. Could it be the legendary carpenter's mortise and tenon joint?"
"I know," I said, "but without nails, they are connected by the grooves of the wood itself."
"Yes." Li Daming nodded. " It is said to be flawless. If this is the case, it cannot be opened by brute force. Perhaps there is a mechanism inside."
"Agency?" I wondered.
Li Daming said, "Didn't Wang Yue send you several messages before and after? She gave you enough hints so that we could enter the building and come to her house smoothly. Please check the messages again to see if there is any code for the mechanism to open the coffin or something."
I took out my cell phone and looked at it carefully. The digital password sent by Wang Yue had been used. The following information was useless. It was all hysterical words urging me to come here.
I read it twice, shook my head, and told Li Daming no.
Li Daming seemed to not believe in my intelligence and took my phone from me. I looked at him unhappily as he squatted on the ground, looking at his phone and thinking.
Taking advantage of this time, I walked slowly along the wall in the bedroom, carefully looking at the paintings on the wall, and was secretly shocked. These paintings are very well painted, with delicate lines, bold ink, and splashes showing the true colors of the paintings. After looking at them for a long time, it still makes people dazzled and fascinated.
Were these paintings drawn by Wang Yue? If they were drawn by her, I never thought that this little girl could do this.
As I walked, I felt a little dazed, as if I had traveled into a tomb-robbing novel. I was alone in the deep of an ancient tomb, in the gloomy corridor, and the terrifying atmosphere was beyond words.
Just then, I suddenly stopped and saw something in the corner.
The moment I saw this thing, my sense of time travel was even stronger than the reality. It really seemed like I had left reality and was in an ancient tomb.
I was completely trapped in a trance where I couldn't distinguish between dreams and reality, and I was unable to extricate myself. My body was motionless but my heart was beating violently, indicating that I was still awake.
I shook my head vigorously, took a deep breath, regained consciousness, and shone the flashlight over there.
In the corner of the room, there is an altar. This altar is in the shape of a Bagua, not very big, about the size of a wash basin, and looks like it is made of metal. The surface is dark black and seems to absorb light. No matter what light shines on it, it cannot illuminate it.
On top of the Bagua altar, right at the location of the black and white eyes of the Tai Chi fish, there are two bronze eternal lamps with a strange and ancient style.
I shouted, "Come here, Damin, and see what this is."
Li Daming came over quickly and returned the phone to me: "There really isn't any useful information in it." He saw the altar, looked at me in bewilderment, and smiled: "It's getting more and more interesting."
"Should we call the police?" I asked quietly. Things were already going off the rails, and many incomprehensible things were happening .
I thought Li Daming would not agree, but he thought about it and said, "Let's talk about it after we find Wang Yue." He pointed to the coffin.
We can basically be sure that Wang Yue is in this closed coffin, and we can only find her by opening the coffin.
Since Wang Yue was in the coffin, there was only one possibility, that is, she entered the coffin and closed the lid from the inside. It was impossible for a little girl like her to close the coffin lid tightly with her strength, so the coffin lid must have a mechanism.
"How about trying to light the eternal lamp?" I blurted out , not knowing where the inspiration came from.
Li Daming nodded: "I think so ."
He took out a lighter from his pocket, walked to the altar, lit the flame, and tremblingly pointed it at the wick in the eternal lamp. I watched from behind with some nervousness. I saw the flame flickering, the wick lit up, and burned. A thin white smoke ignited in the eternal lamp, quickly dissolving into the air and disappearing.
Li Daming covered his nose and took a step back, his face changing from gloomy to bright.
I walked over and smelled a faint fragrance above the light.
"It smells good." I said softly.
Li Daming's face was solemn: "It may not be what it is, maybe it's poison."
"You're overthinking it." I said, "This is not a martial arts novel." I took the lighter from him and told him that I would light the other eternal lamp.
Li Daming made a gesture, indicating that it was up to him.
I squatted on the ground and used the flame to light another eternal lamp. The flame jumped, the wick burned slowly, and then a puff of white smoke came out. I didn't dodge it in time, and the white smoke just rushed into my nose. I smelled a fragrance that was both light and deep, like a bug rushing straight into the deep of the nasal cavity, making people feel ecstatic and half of their face numb.
I quickly stood up and handed the lighter to Li Daming. Li Daming shook his head and said, "We both smelled it. It hope it's not poisonous, otherwise we'll be in big trouble." He smiled bitterly.
At this moment, a "creaking" sound suddenly came from the darkness.
I felt a chill on the back of my neck, and Li Daming and I looked in the direction of the sound, only to see the huge black coffin lid actually moving slowly!
"It's open?" I was a little skeptical.
Li Daming's throat moved: "I know! The eternal lamp is a mechanism."
We both looked at each other, both of us looking horrible. From the beginning, when I received the WeChat message and came here to crack the password of the staircase, until now, when I used the eternal lamp to open the coffin... I seemed to be walking step by step into an inexplicable trap, and every step was arranged by Wang Yue.
But why would she put so much effort into me and set up all these schemes just for me?
Li Daming was the one who got caught in the crossfire. It had nothing to do with him originally, but this guy took the initiative to get involved in the mess.
I suddenly thought of something, a key point that is difficult to explain... Just as I was about to think about it, Li Daming patted me on the shoulder and said that we should go over and take a look. The thought just now passed away quickly, and when I thought about it again, there was nothing to hide.
I had no choice but to follow him to the coffin, but before I could get closer, he stopped me from getting any closer. We stood three steps away, and Li Daming shone a flashlight into the coffin.
The coffin lid only moved a crack, which was considered open. It was still dark inside, and the flashlight could only sweep along the edge, so the scene inside was unclear. Somehow, I always felt that there was someone lying inside. It should be Wang Yue.
It was impossible to just stand at a distance and observe quietly; the coffin lid had to be pushed open completely.
The two of us came closer, each moving one end and pushing hard. Surprisingly, the lid of the coffin was very light, just a thin layer of wood. We moved the lid to the ground, and the whole coffin was exposed.
Li Daming shone the flashlight inside again, and I followed him in. The light instantly illuminated the scene inside the coffin. He and I looked at each other, both with expressions of surprise and doubt.
